We are only 7 weeks into the new season and Bibiani Gold Stars have punched above their weight. The Minners top the league log with 15 points, one point above second placed Asante Kotoko.

Bibiani Gold Stars have won all 4 home games played and drawn all three away games thus far. It’s an amazing moment for the Bibiani-based club because no one expected them to be so good.

When head coach Frimpong Manso was quizzed about his expectations for the season after the 2-0 win over Aduana Stars on Sunday, he remained humble and revealed that they have set no target for the season.

“For the time being, we have not set a specific goal, but as a team, we aim to gain the most points possible from each game and complete the season in a respectable place”.

Bibiani Gold Stars finished 11th in the 2023-24 season winning 47 points from 38 games. Everything shows that they might surpass that mark this season considering how they are winning points.

“I don’t want to say we’re going to win the league after seven games because that will put too much pressure on the players.

“Remember, most of the players are only getting a taste of the Premier League, and setting such lofty goals for them will put too much pressure on them. That doesn’t mean that if the opportunity to win arises, we won’t take, we will,” Frimpong Manso continued.

Talking about the GPL title is too early but the head coach believes they will not joke when they get the opportunity to lift it although most of his players are very inexperienced.

“All I’m trying to say is that it’s too early to predict whether or not we’ll win it, we’ll go into each game with a winning mentality and see what happens.

”I’ll encourage the fans to keep supporting us, and at the end of the season, something good will undoubtedly happen,” Frimpong Manso concluded.

The head coach has been so sensational since replacing Michael Osei in December 2023. Bibiani Gold Stars are now enjoying every bit of the season. The club has won 13 out of the 14 league games played at home since Frimpong Manso was appointed.

Can they do Medeama and Samartex? It’s a question that only time can answer.
