Ghanaian highlife artiste, Kuami Eugene has disclosed that people keep insulting him for featuring on Sarkodie’s ‘Happy Day’.

Speaking to Andy Dosty on Hitz FM, Kuami said the song which was released four years ago, has caused some disaffection for him from some music consumers.

“I am still suffering for that [feature]. I don’t know what conversation sparked the fact that it should be Kuami Eugene, and after I did the chorus from the first verse I heard from senior man [Sarkodie], it ended up that way. I have to explain myself for the rest of my life that I am not a part of it when it comes to it being an NPP song.

I think it is a Kuami Eugene – Sarkodie conversation which didn’t lean towards that direction. The conversation was from a different direction and later it went towards that direction. I just felt a little disappointed because I still pay for it,” he said.

According to him, he still gets a barrage of attacks over that feature.

“People ask me all the time that ‘you go sleep for UGMC, you no know say ebe Mahama build am,” he said.

‘Happy Day’ by Sarkodie was released prior to the general election in 2020.

Although a party song, it invoked controversies with a line by Sarkodie that commends Nana Akufo-Addo’s Free Senior High School policy and endorses his re-election.

People who felt the song was a politically inspired piece for the NPP campaign, descending on Sarkodie and by extension, Kuami Eugene.
