Kumasi Asante Kotoko will bolster their attack with the acquisition of free agants Isaac Mintah and Kwame Poku in the January Transfer window.

The club has been in dire need of goals after scoring just 8 in the 9 games played so far. Dubbed the “one goal project club” due to their inability to bang in goals, Fabulous are in negotiations with the entourage of the duo.

Isaac Mintah, 26, is a free agent after leaving Al-Ahli of Libya. He joined the club in February 2024 after scoring 17 goals and providing four assist for Aduana Stars. His stay has been cut short and he is now training with the Porcupine Warriors with the head coach Prosper Ogum excited with his performance.

Kwame Poku was once the darling boy of Asante Kotoko. He was fans’ favourite before moving to Algerian side USM Alger in a bumper deal. He signed for Moroccan club Olympique de Kourigba in the 2023-24 season but failed to make an impact with his contract been terminated mutually. The 25-year-old will commence training with fabulous in the week.

Their inclusion will help improve Kotoko’s attacking option especially with the new star boy Albert Amoah’s injury. The former Great Olympics striker has scored 5 of Kotoko’s 8 goals so far. He unfortunately got injured and substituted in the 78th minute at the Obuasi Len Clay Sports Stadium in week 9 of the GPL against Heart of Lions.

Albert Amoah is set to miss a huge chunk of the season after injuring his knee against Heart of Lions albeit the club is yet to officially comment on the situation.
