Hearts of Oak are now 4 points behind league leaders Bibiani Gold Stars after drawing goalless at the Nsenkyire Sports Arena in Samraboi against Samartex on Sunday in round 17 of the Ghana Premier League.

Phobia had never won a game against the Timber Giants since the minnows gained promotion to the Ghana Premier League in 2023, so it was always going to be a huge test for the club.

Hearts of Oak had lost their two visits to Smartex in the Premier League ahead of Sunday’s clash and will definitely enjoy the point they took from their bogey ground.

After the game, Phobia’s head coach, Abubakar Ouattara lamented his side’s inability to create enough chances.

“We wanted to win today, but unfortunately, we didn’t score. We didn’t create enough chances; we managed only one or two,” Ouattara said.

“Unfortunately, we didn’t play well enough to score. I think the goalkeeper of Samartex did well, especially with one or two crucial saves, particularly the last one.”

The game at the Nsenkyire Park saw Samartex limiting Hearts of Oak’s threat from all angles. Phobia was frustrated by Samartex’s incredible defending.

Hearts of Oak will travel to Holy Stars in their first game of the second round on 26th January. Reemge is on the mind of Phobia after the newly promoted side shocked them with a 2-0 win in the opening fixture of the season.
