He passed away on Sunday, April 6, 2025. The cause of his death is immediately known.
Media personalities and people in the entertainment industry have expressed their shock and sympathy.
Highlife artist Kwabena Kwabena’s manager, Nana Poku Ashis, paid a heartfelt tribute to DJ Awana, emphasizing his important contributions to the music industry.
He wrote, “Rest in power, my friend. I promise to keep working on the plan, even in our loss. Team KBKB shares in the pain of DJ Awana’s loss. Until we meet again, journey on DJ; you will be missed.”
DJ Ohemaa Woyeje, DJ Ashmen, and news anchor Nana Yaa Konadu Yiadom also used their platforms to express their condolences for the deceased DJ.
Beginning his remarkable career with Adom FM in 2003, DJ Awana immediately became a prominent player in Ghana’s live event and radio industries. He later moved to Oman FM in 2007, before rejoining the Multimedia Group to work at Hitz FM.
