Week 27 of the Ghana Premier League continued on Sunday afternoon across the country, with league leaders Asante Kotoko dropping points at home against Bechem United.

The Porcupine Warriors faced a very strong opposition in Bechem United at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi. The away side opened the scoring through Darlvin Yeboah’s thumping header earlier in the second half. Asante Kotoko started panicking after going down 1-0.

A contentious decision was made by referee Animakwaw Kwofie after a Bechem United defender was adjudged to have handled the ball in the 18-yard box. Replays failed to show whether he handled the ball or not.

Albert Amoah stepped up and scored from the 12 yards to restore parity. The game ended 1-1 with Asante Kotoko failing to win to maintain their two points lead.

At the Dun’s Park in Bibiani, Bibiani Gold Stars narrowly pipped Young Apostles. Alex Aso’s strike on the stroke of halftime helped Frimpong Manso’s side secure a hard-fought win. The Bibiani-based club has now won 47 points, the same as leaders Asante Kotoko. Gold Stars are in second position on the table due to Kotoko’s superior goal record.

Zakaria Fusseini scored the only goal of Berekum Chelsea’s 1-0 win over Heart of Lions at the Berekum Golden City Park. Heart of Lions is little by little getting out of the title race after losing three of their last five games.

Kelvin Osei Asibey silenced Vision in the 38th minute to help Phobia take a 1-0 lead. Meschak Adjetey equalised right in the first minute of the second half. His goal disorganised the Phobians as they failed to take all three crucial points. The 1-1 draw at Tema means Hearts of Oak are now 6th on the log trailing the league leaders by 6 points.

Alhassan Adamu’s brace helped Karela secure a good 2-0 win over Aduana Stars.

Samartex SC beat Legon Cities 2-0 at the Accra Sports Stadium.
