CAF, together with the Local Organising Committee (LOC), has unveiled ASSAD as the official mascot of the 2025 AFCON set to kick off in less than two weeks.

ASSAD is inspired by Morocco’s legendary Atlas Lion, which conveys the nation’s fighting spirit and determination on the big stage.

Derived from the Arabic word for “lion,” Assad embodies strength, pride, and cultural authenticity, a true reflection of the spirit of African football.

More than a symbol, ASSAD also brings energy, joy, and unity to the competition, engaging fans in stadiums, fan zones, and communities.

At the same time, Assad serves as an inspiration for the next generation, championing youth and grassroots programmes across the continent.

AFCON 2025 will kick off on Sunday, December 21, with the host Morocco facing Comoros.
