Ivory Coast suddenly withdrew as the host of the imminent 2025 U20 AFCON a month before kick-off.
The news came as a surprise to football fans across the continent because no proper reason was stated for their withdrawal.
After just 24 hours of Ivory Coast’s sad announcement, the Confederation of African Football has confirmed Egypt as the host for the tournament.
Per CAF report, the Egyptian Football Association and the Egyptian Government had previously submitted a bid to host the TotalEnergies CAF Under-20 Africa Cup of Nations 2025, but Ivory Coast won the bid.
The competition will be played between 27th April and 18th May 2025.
