Ghana is in Group C alongside DR Congo, Central Africa Republic and Senegal for the AFCON U20 tournament to be played in Egypt.
Ghana head coach Desmond Offei is optimistic about Ghana’s success in North Africa and reserved special praise for the preparations in Egypt.
“We are very fortunate to have arrived early in Egypt to acclimatize. The conditions are excellent. The training pitch is in great shape, the facilities are fantastic, and the food is good,” Ofei said.
Ghana has been in North Africa for almost a week ahead of the tournament, with the head coach praising the facilities in Egypt.
“We are in a good space, which allows us to really focus, work hard, and get to our best level as soon as possible,” he added.
The competition was already scheduled to be played in Ivory Coast in West Africa but was later given to Egypt after the Ivorians decided to not host it due to some reasons.
The 18th edition of the AFCON U20 will be played between 27th April to 18th May with the semi-finalists qualifying for the 2025 U20 World Cup to be played in South America in Chile later this year.
