Ghanaian actress and social media personality Rosemond Alade Brown, popularly known as Akuapem Poloo, has shared a deeply personal and troubling experience involving a former Black Stars footballer — an incident that she says occurred over a decade ago in 2010.

Speaking on Hitz FM, Poloo opened up publicly for the first time about an uncomfortable encounter she had as a young woman navigating Accra’s nightlife.

At the time, she was still relatively unknown in the entertainment industry and was frequenting Rockstone’s Office, a popular hotspot for celebrities, socialites, and athletes.

According to Poloo, the incident unfolded during a casual night out with friends when the unnamed former national team player approached her.

He later invited her on what was supposed to be a simple date. However, what began as a friendly meeting quickly took a disturbing turn.

“He insisted I enter his car, and I naively agreed. But soon after, he started making inappropriate advances,” Poloo recalled.

She alleged that the footballer exposed himself and attempted to pressure her into a sexual encounter, offering her a large sum of money in return.

Poloo firmly rejected his offer and said she quickly exited the vehicle, feeling threatened and unsafe.

“I was scared. I knew something was wrong, and I had to leave. I didn’t care about the money. It was about my dignity,” she said.

Poloo said she has kept the experience to herself for years, but felt compelled to finally share it as a warning to other young women.

Her intention, she explained, is to educate and empower others who may find themselves in similar vulnerable situations, especially when dealing with powerful or influential individuals.

“There’s a lot of pressure when you’re a woman and someone with money or fame tries to intimidate you. I want the younger generation to know it’s okay to say no, and it’s okay to walk away,” she emphasized.

While Akuapem Poloo did not disclose the identity of the player, her revelation has reignited discussions on the importance of consent, the abuse of status by public figures, and the uncomfortable reality many women face within male-dominated spaces — be it in entertainment, sports, or business.

Online reactions to her story have been mixed, with many commending her courage while others called for more accountability in Ghana’s celebrity and sports circles.

Poloo, known for her controversial yet candid public persona, said her story is part of a broader journey of self-awareness and advocacy.

“I made a decision that day to respect myself. And I’ve never regretted it,” she concluded.
