Popular NDC activist Kwaku Appiah, widely known as Appiah Stadium, is considering legal action against TikTok content creator Emmanuella Arthur, popularly known as Ella, over a viral video that has generated widespread discussion on social media.

Through his lawyers, Appiah Stadium has issued a formal demand notice accusing the TikToker of secretly recording him without his knowledge or consent before publishing the footage online with captions and commentary that allegedly portrayed him in a false and damaging light.

The legal letter, signed by lawyer Mujeeb Rahman Ahmed, states that the incident occurred in June 2026 after Ella voluntarily accepted an invitation to meet Appiah Stadium at the apartment where he was temporarily staying in Accra.

According to the legal notice, the meeting took place at the reception area of the apartment complex, where the two reportedly engaged in a conversation. During the meeting, Appiah Stadium is said to have paid for all the food and drinks ordered by the TikToker.

The lawyers further explained that because of Appiah Stadium’s popularity, several members of the public approached him during the meeting to request photographs.

The letter states that after the discussion at the reception, Appiah Stadium invited Ella to continue their conversation inside his apartment, explaining that the purpose was simply to have a more private discussion away from the public.

However, according to the lawyers, Ella declined the invitation. The letter maintains that Appiah Stadium immediately respected her decision, discontinued the discussion, and quietly returned to his room without any further interaction or confrontation.

The lawyers argue that their client was later shocked to discover that the entire meeting had allegedly been secretly recorded without his consent.

They further claim that Ella subsequently uploaded the video to her TikTok account together with captions and statements that suggested Appiah Stadium had behaved improperly or had embarrassed himself during the encounter.

Appiah Stadium has firmly denied those suggestions, insisting through his legal representatives that the publication was false, malicious, misleading and deliberately designed to expose him to public ridicule, hatred and contempt.

The legal team argues that the circulation of the video has significantly damaged Appiah Stadium’s reputation, noting that he is a well-known political figure whose public image has been built over many years.

According to the lawyers, the publication has attracted numerous negative comments on social media, causing harm to both his personal and professional reputation.

Beyond the alleged defamatory nature of the publication, the lawyers also contend that secretly recording and publishing the video raises serious issues concerning Appiah Stadium’s constitutional right to privacy and other protections available under Ghanaian law.

As part of the demands contained in the notice, Ella has been instructed to immediately remove and permanently delete the disputed video and every related publication from TikTok and all other social media platforms under her control.

The legal team has also directed her to cease making or publishing any further statements they describe as false, defamatory or misleading concerning their client.

Additionally, the lawyers are demanding that within 24 hours of receiving the notice, Ella publishes an unequivocal and unreserved apology on her TikTok account. According to the letter, the apology must be delivered in video format—the same medium used for the original publication—and must remain publicly visible for at least 14 consecutive days.

The lawyers have further requested that within seven days, Ella provides a written undertaking confirming that she will refrain from publishing any additional recordings, photographs, videos or statements relating to the incident.

The legal notice concludes with a warning that failure to comply with the demands within the stipulated timelines will leave Appiah Stadium with no option but to commence legal proceedings without further notice.

According to the lawyers, the intended lawsuit will seek damages for alleged defamation, breach of privacy, aggravated and exemplary damages, injunctive relief, legal costs and any additional remedies the court may consider appropriate.
