Asante Kotoko: Club officially confirms missing of Sudanese players in USA

It started on Friday night and we all thought it was mere rumours that two of the nine Asante Kotoko players in the club’s trip to the USA for the Capital City Africa Cup have left the team’s hotel.

Asante Kotoko was scheduled to play DC United in the United States of America at the Audi Field in Washington DC but it was cancelled, the club communicated earlier this week.

The game was later confirmed to be Ghana’s XI against DC United.

The Capital City Africa Cup was scheduled to take place in Washington, D.C on Saturday, 12th October, 2024.”

“Asante Kotoko SC regrets to inform our supporters and the public that two players, Esmat AbdalHamid Mohamed and Obdoelkarem Yousef Yagoub, both Sudanese nationals, are currently missing from the camp

“The players left the team’s hotel without permission on Friday, 11th October 2024, and all efforts to contact or locate them have been unsuccessful. The club has officially notified law enforcement authorities in the United States and is cooperating fully to ensure their safe return.

“We urge our supporters to remain calm as we work with the relevant authorities, the IMC wrote via Facebook.

Esmat AbdalHamid Mohamed (22) and Obdoelkarem Youcef Yagoub (19) jpined Asante kotoko in the last transfer window and were already part of the playing body.
