Emmanuel Kotei joined Asante Kotoko from Nsoatreman in January 2024. As he said when he finally signed his contract, the right back’s move was a dream one.
The 2024-25 season has not been successful after Kotei found it difficult to play regularly. Thus far, he has played only four league games for the Porcupine Warriors. He has played against Young Apostles, Holy Stars, Dreams FC, and Medeama in a combined 202 minutes.
In Kotoko’s last three league games, Kotei played 90 minutes against Dreams and Medeama SC each. It was a good moment for the 27-year-old until he suffered an ACL injury, which will keep him out of the rest of the season. He will spend nine months recovering, meaning Kotei will miss the rest of the current campaign and also the first three months of the 2025-26 season.
The news is a disastrous one for the club after top scorer Albert Amoah was also confirmed to miss two months due to injury.
However, three crucial signings have been made by the Porcupine Warriors. Kwame Poku who has already announced his presence with 3 goals in three games, the experienced Sampson Eduku and the fantastic forward Isaac Mintah have all been added to help Kotoko score more goals in the club’s bid to win the Ghana Premier League
