Albert Amoah scored all Kotoko’s three goals in the 3-2 win over Medeama SC in week 33 of the Ghana Premier League at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi. The win helped Asante Kotoko close the points gap to 2 with just one game to end the season.
Albert Amoah, who was on fire on Sunday, expressed his happiness in the hard-fought win over Medeama.
“We are happy [to have beaten Medeama]. It is our dream to win the Premier League, but it’s not too late, so we are happy to claim the three points,” Albert said after the game.
“They are a very good side, and our coach told us that this was going to be a tough game, so we should fight hard, and we are happy to win.”
Medeama is undoubtedly one of the most dangerous teams in the Ghana Premier League. The Mauve and Yellow gave Asante Kotoko a tough time as the Porcupine Warriors needed to dig deep for the win.
Albert Amoah continued, “I’m not very ok because I can do more than this, but there is more to come. I don’t really have a special position, wherever you place me on the pitch, I’m comfortable apart from goalkeeping”.
Amoah can play across all three positions in attack and can also serve as a second striker, making him a valuable asset to the Porcupine Warriors.
The former Accra Great Olympics striker has scored 12 goals and sits behind Stephen Amankonah, who has scored 15 goals for Berekum Chelsea.
“It’s not late [to win the title], everything is possible, and it’s not too late. We have one match to go against Vision FC, an away game. We hope to go and claim all three points there so the goals can also come,” Amoah concluded.
Asante Kotoko will travel to Vision in the final game of the season. A defeat for both Nations FC and Bibiani Gold Stars in their games against Heart of Lions and Accra Lions will help the Porcupine Warriors win the league if they win Vision.
