A tragic incident at Assin Fosu in the Central Region has left an entire school community in shock after a young ICT teacher, identified as Prince Nkrumah, popularly known as Sir Skinny, reportedly took his own life following a devastating heartbreak.
According to confirmed community accounts and preliminary police information, the 29-year-old tutor at Ansah Redeemed Basic School had been in a long-term relationship with a young woman he supported financially and emotionally throughout her nursing training.
Residents say Nkrumah was widely known for his generosity, often describing his girlfriend as his “future wife” and expressing pride in her academic journey.
However, events reportedly took a tragic turn shortly after the lady completed her nursing programme.
Sources close to the deceased indicate that the newly-qualified nurse informed Sir Skinny that she could no longer continue the relationship.
The unexpected breakup is believed to have plunged the teacher into emotional distress.
On the morning of the incident, staff at Ansah Redeemed Basic School became alarmed when Nkrumah failed to report for classes—something colleagues say was unusual given his dedication to the job.
Attempts to reach him proved unsuccessful, prompting a group of teachers to visit his residence.
Upon arrival, they discovered his lifeless body in his room. Investigators later found evidence suggesting he had ingested a weedicide.
A handwritten note believed to be from the deceased asked his family for forgiveness, hinting at deep emotional turmoil.
Community members have described the situation as “ingratitude of the highest order,” expressing anger at the betrayal they believe contributed to the young teacher’s decision.
The body has since been deposited at a certain morgue for preservation.
