They always say ‘gratitude is a must’. Gratitude is a must indeed because it only takes the kind-hearted to give a helping hand to a brother.
Brothers are meant to be each other’s keepers but that idea is little by little fading away from the Ghanaian community.
Ghanaian coach Bismark Kobi Mensah has revealed how his childhood friend Micheal Essien has supported him in his journey to be a professional coach.
In an interview on Asempa, Bismark Kobbie said, “Michael Essien has been a long-time friend from my secondary school days.
“We also played together for Ghana with the Black Starlets team. He paid a lot of money for me to pursue some of my coaching courses in England.
“I don’t think any family member will do what Essien has done for me,” Bismark said on ASEMPA FM.
Micheal Essien and Bismark Kobby Mensah were teammates; hence, they have known each other since their U-17 days. The former head coach of Bechem United, Great Olympics, and Karela United was the captain of the 1999 Black Starlets (U-17) before he was controversially dropped before the U17 AFCON.
The 41-year-old who grew up in Sawmill, Takoradi, was the star boy then. He was more talented even than Micheal Essien, but due to life’s unpredictability, Kobbie Mensah could not make it to the upper echelon of football.
Micheal Essien, who had an incredible football career played for Olympique Lyon, Chelsea and Real Madrid and so many top teams in his career.
