Ghana women’s national under-20 football team, Black Princesses are set to discover their opponents for the 2026 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup when the official draw takes place on May 15 in Poland.

The draw ceremony will be staged at the EC1 Cultural Centre in Lodz, one of the four host cities selected for the global youth tournament. The other host cities include Bielsko-Biała, Katowice, and Sosnowiec.

The Black Princesses will join 23 other nations in the draw as anticipation builds ahead of one of the biggest competitions in women’s youth football.

Ghana Secure Eighth World Cup Appearance

Ghana booked their place at the tournament after overcoming Uganda women’s national under-20 football team in the final qualifying round.

The Black Princesses advanced with a 3–2 aggregate victory after winning the first leg 2–1 in Accra before securing a hard-fought 1–1 draw in Kampala.

The qualification extended the impressive record in women’s youth football, marking an eighth appearance at the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup.

Strong U-20 Tradition

Over the years, the Black Princesses have established themselves as one of Africa’s most consistent teams at the U-20 level, regularly qualifying for global tournaments and producing players who later progressed to the senior national team, the Ghana women’s national football team.

Ghana has been one of the continent’s strongest representatives in women’s youth football, with the team earning respect internationally for its competitiveness, technical quality, and player development pathway.

The upcoming tournament in Poland offers another opportunity for Ghana to showcase its emerging talents on the world stage.

Expanded Tournament In Poland

The 2026 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup will be held in Poland from September 5 to September 27, 2026.

The competition, staged every two years, remains one of FIFA’s most important youth tournaments and serves as a platform for some of the world’s brightest young female footballers.

Attention Turns To Draw Ceremony

The group-stage draw is expected to generate huge interest among participating nations as teams begin assessing potential opponents and mapping out their preparations for the tournament.
