Ghana head coach Carlos Queiroz has named a 24-man Black Stars squad for a demanding international window that will see the team play three matches between September 24 and October 4, 2026.
The squad combines experienced players with some fresh faces as Ghana prepares for two 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying matches and an international friendly against Morocco. The squad also signals renewal.
Goalkeepers
The goalkeeping department features Benjamin Asare of Hearts of Oak, Lawrence Ati-Zigi of St. Gallen and Joseph Anang of St. Patrick’s Athletic. The trio will compete for the starting position as Ghana begins its AFCON 2027 qualifying campaign. The three goalkeepers were Carlos Queiroz’s choices at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Defenders
The defensive options include Gideon Mensah of FC Koln, Baba Rahman of PAOK, Jan Gyamerah of SV Elversberg, Derrick Luckassen of Red Star Belgrade, Nathaniel Adjei of Lorient, Jerome Opoku of Istanbul Basaksehir, Kojo Oppong Peprah of Fenerbahce and Alexander Djiku of Spartak Moscow. The Matches
Ghana will open the international window against Côte d’Ivoire in a 2027 AFCON qualifier on September 24 in Bouaké. The Black Stars will then face The Gambia in another qualifier on September 29 in Accra before travelling to Morocco for an international friendly against the Atlas Lions on October 4. The Morocco game will take place at the Grand Stade de Tanger.
The three-match schedule allows Queiroz to assess his squad in competitive and friendly settings while beginning Ghana’s campaign for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations.
