Black Stars coach Otto Addo has assured fans that his team is ready to compete without their captain, Thomas Partey, in their upcoming 2025 Africa Cup
Black Stars coach Otto Addo has assured fans that his team is ready to compete without their captain, Thomas Partey, in their upcoming 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier against Sudan.
The first leg of the doubleheader will take place today at the Accra Sports Stadium, with kickoff scheduled for 16:00 GMT.
Partey has been ruled out due to a medical issue, and in his absence, Mohammed Kudus will take on the captaincy for the match.
During a pre-match press conference on Wednesday, Addo emphasized the importance of focusing on the players available in camp rather than dwelling on those who are missing.
“This is my job. We have different solutions on how we could play. We as a staff discussed it and I chose one at the end, and I’m very, very sure it will work,” he stated confidently.
Addo further added, “We are not thinking too much about the players not here; it’s more about the players who are here, their qualities, and how we can inspire them to perform.”
The Black Stars are looking to secure their first victory in the qualifiers and will later travel to Libya for the return leg at the Martyrs of February Stadium.
Currently, Ghana sits third in Group F with just one point, underscoring the importance of this match for their AFCON aspirations.
