Charles Kwabla Akonnor was an integral member of the Black Stars during his playing days. He also coached the Black Stars even though he did not last long.

CK Akonnor, due to his vast experience with the Black Stars knows a thing or two that makes a head coach enjoy success as a coach of Ghana.

Sharing his thoughts on Otto Addo’s return, CK Akonnor has revealed that Ghana was solid in matchday 3 and 4 of the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.

“It is very Hopeful. I saw the match against Mali. it was an away match, the way we played was solid. I was very happy with our attacking line the way we played, soak them and attacked them during counter-attack situations,” CK said.

“So it looks very hopeful. In the second match, we saw our team score three goals. I think it has been a while since we scored such goals, three goals, so we need to appreciate it.

“Of course, there are things the coach himself made mention of it. They have to improve in that area and as a coach, I understand and I think the future is hopeful,” Akonnor added.

Ghana has won four points from a possible 12 and sits second to Comoros only separated by goal difference in Group I of the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
