A tense and chaotic scene unfolded at the Akropong District Court when Nana Yaa Nyarko, the woman implicated in the death of musician Wyllbee, was surrounded by an agitated crowd.

Accused of being a key factor in Wyllbee’s death, who was allegedly lynched at her residence, Nana Yaa was brought before the court alongside several alleged accomplices.

After her initial court appearance, where bail was denied, she was escorted to a police van.

The presence of the musician’s grieving family and supporters became unmistakably volatile.

Concealed by clothing that obscured her face, Nana Yaa was escorted by police into the van, but not before facing a barrage of curses and taunts from the enraged crowd.

Family members and sympathizers of the late musician who gathered at the court premises hooted and booed her mercilessly.

Meanwhile, the case has been adjourned to August 11, 2024.

Background:

Reports indicated that Wyllbee was killed in Abuakwa-Tanoso, Ashanti Region while staying overnight at Nana Yaa Nyarko’s residence, a property reportedly owned by her husband’s family abroad, who were unaware of Wyllbee’s presence.

According to initial accounts, on July 5, 2024, Wyllbee was seen urinating in the compound and was confronted by residents who suspected him of theft.

Wyllbee allegedly claimed he was visiting Nana Yaa, but she purportedly denied knowing him to protect her marriage from her in-laws.

This denial led to suspicion and accusations of theft among the neighbors, culminating in Wyllbee being lynched. Reports also mention that his phone was destroyed with a stone during the incident.

Another twist:

Unverified reports also suggested that Wyllbee attempted to break into Nana Yaa’s room using a stone, which led to an intervention by neighbors and the subsequent tragedy.

The stone used to break the door was reportedly recovered at the scene and is being used as evidence.

Contrary to the deceased’s mother’s claims that Wyllbee’s belongings were found in Nana Yaa’s room, sources indicated that the items were actually discovered elsewhere on the property, not near the woman’s residence.
