Russia and Burkina Faso are now friends amid the West African nation’s disapproval of the French-ism.

The Eastern Europeans led by Vladimir Putin have promised Burkina Faso their support in their quest to end their long-existing relationship with France.

On Friday, May 9th, Burkina Faso’s president, Capitaine Ibrahim Traore, 36, was invited by the Russian Federation for the 80th anniversary of the country’s victory over Nazism.

The young president expressed his excitement for the invitation and also conveyed his delight in his country’s partnership with Russia.

Captain Traore wrote on his X account

“By attending the grand parade and wreath laying ceremony on May 9, 2025, marking the 80th anniversary of Russia’s victory over Nazism, I pay tribute to the Soviet Army and Allied troops.

“This historic victory is a source of confidence for me in the wholehearted commitment of my country and the AES Confederation to winning the war against terrorism and imperialism at all costs. The security of our States and the well-being of our populations drive and guide our daily actions.

“I welcome the mutually beneficial partnership between Burkina Faso and the Russian Federation,” Capitaine Traore concluded.

The young president recently came under severe criticism after America accused him of not being democratic.
