Real Madrid was smashed into pieces at the Emirates Stadium in North London on Tuesday night. The defending champions of the Champions League had no antidote to Arsenal’s fabulous second-half performance, where Declan Rice scored twice via free kick, with Spanish midfielder Mikel Merino adding the third.

It is very difficult to blame anyone for the defeat because the qualities in the goals Arsenal scored were beyond physical explanations.

After the game, Real Madrid’s Italian manager Carlo Ancelotti praised Arsenal and admitted the Gunners were the better of the two sides.

“We did not expect this. Nobody expected Arsenal to score 2 free-kicks.” Arsenal’s free kicks surprised everyone because of the distance and the technique behind them. The Gunners are known to be specialists when it comes to set pieces, but on Tuesday night, they rubberstamped the idea that they are the best set piece side in Europe.

“Arsenal a better team than us? They played better, they did a lot of things better,” Ancelotti conceded. The manager of Los Blancos admitted that Arsenal did a lot of things that his side couldn’t.

“We have to do everything possible in the second leg from the first minute to the last,” he concluded.

Carlo Ancelotti has promised fireworks at the Bernabeu next Wednesday as he expects his side to put up a different performance against Arsenal.
