Dorival Jnr was sacked three days ago after he was considered unfit for the Selecao job. Brazil was humiliated in Buenos Aires by perennial rivals Argentina in round 14 of the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers in South America.
The CBF decided to part ways with Dorival Jnr due to a lack of progress in the team.
The big question now is who is going to replace Dorival Junior?
The Brazilian head coach role is considered the hottest seat when it comes to international football. The five-time world champions are 23 years without the FIFA World Cup trophy and are targeting the 2026 edition in USA-CANADA-MEXICO.
Reports from the Brazilian media say the CBF has shortlisted Real Madrid’s Carlo Ancelotti, former Atletico Madrid and Brazilian left-back Filipe Luiz, who is currently the head coach of Flamengo and 70-year-old Portuguese head coach Jorge Jesus, who currently works as the head coach of Al Hilal of Saudi Arabia.
Italian manager Ancelotti has been a long-time target for Brazil since Tite departed after the 2022 World Cup.
39-year-old Filipe Luiz is young, and up and coming, and the CBF is considering him because they have huge confidence in his methods, even though he is yet to write any success story in his coaching career.
The CBF thinks veteran Jorge Jesus has enough experience in Brazilian football after managing Flamengo.
Brazil has begun preparations ahead of the 2026 World Cup with a new manager set to be appointed to lead the South American giants.
