A little over 15 months later, the much-awaited 2026 FIFA World Cup, to be played across three countries, will commence in the USA, Mexico, and Canada. All the world’s attention in the 2026 summer will be in North America.

For the first time in the Mundial’s history, 48 teams will compete instead of 32. Qualifiers are underway, and some of the teams have already known their fate, while others will soon learn theirs.

Seven countries have so far qualified for the tournament.

Form North America, the USA, Mexico, and Canada have all secured their tickets due to the fact that they are co-hosting.

In Africa, six rounds of games have been played, with none of the groups concluding.

In Asia, Japan has secured their ticket, becoming the only side from that continent to secure its place. It’s the eighth consecutive time the Blue Samurai has qualified for the World Cup since 1998.

Iran also qualified from the Asian continent.

From Oceania, New Zealand won the sole slot as the Kiwis return to the World stage for the first time in 16 years.

No country has qualified from Europe as their qualifiers only commenced in March 2025.
