Colombia continued their impressive performance with a 2-1 win over Paraguay on Monday night.

Former Real Madrid and Bayern Munich midfielder James Rodriguez showed his class by delivering from set pieces to set up Crystal Palace’s Daniel Munoz and Jefferson Lerma to put Los Cafeteros 2-0 ahead in the first half.

It was always going to be a difficult game for Paraguay after going 2-0 down in the first half. Paraguay stepped up in the second half with Brighton & Hove Albion’s Julio Enciso pulling one back in the 69th minute.

Colombia protected their lead and won 2-1 to commence their campaign on a higher note.

They are unbeaten since Argentina beat them 1-0 on 1st February 2020 in the FIFA World Cup qualifiers. Colombia has won the last 9 matches in all competitions convincing many to believe that they are among the genuine favourites for the title.

Colombia will hope to make it 25 consecutive games without defeat against Costa Rica in their second game of the group. All is well at the moment for them.
