“Detty December is so sensational, according to many tourists who have witnessed and had a feel of it. The party is one that words can’t explain as partygoers drink, dance and interact for almost three weeks, nonstop.
Ghana and Nigeria are the two countries that are known for the organisation of the crazy parties that begin from mid-December up to the first week of the New Year.
Visitors have fallen in love with the Detty December because they are not as restricted compared to where they came from.
Ghana’s speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin, has expressed a huge concern about Detty December, revealing that it could tarnish Ghana’s image if it is not well restricted.
He narrated a conversation he had with an American lady who is planning to visit Ghana for the Detty December, where she explained how people enjoy themselves without any form of restrictions.
“When I recently travelled to the US, I introduced myself as being from Ghana. A very beautiful Black woman approached me and said she was planning to visit Ghana. Curious, I asked her why, and she replied that she was coming for ‘Detty December.’
“When I asked what that meant, she looked shocked and said, ‘But you said you’re from Ghana!’ I told her I had never heard of it.
She explained that ‘Detty December’ refers to how people from across the world come to Ghana in December to party freely and leave without restrictions. No wonder ‘red’ is now in Ghana”, Bagbin concluded.
Detty December is little by little being preferred to many other Christmas and holiday seasons because people do whatever they like without being questioned.
