A dismissed police officer who escaped to Dubai after defiling a 13-year-old girl has been sentenced to 12 years’ imprisonment.
Ex-Corporal Emmanuel Nyame is said to have had sexual intercourse with the little girl who was living with his fiancée.
According to reports, on April 11, 2019, while his fiancée was away at a funeral, Nyame took the victim into his car under the pretext of running an errand with him.
He is reported to have driven the victim to a drinking spot called Timberland at Koforidua and asked her to help a cook.
Nyame then continued with the victim to the funeral ground and later took her into his room at Nsukwao Police Barracks, where he asked the victim to fold some washed clothes.
The ex-police Corporal then left and returned to provide the victim with lines of beads to put around her waist.
Nyame is reported to have then forcibly had sexual intercourse with the victim despite her resistance and warned her not to disclose to anyone, else she would die.
The victim is said to have later informed her Auntie’s daughter, who eventually informed informed his father.
The victim’s father reported the incident to the Police. Nyame was found culpable as medical examination and investigations confirmed the act.
He, however, jumped bail on August 13, 2019 and subsequently left for Dubai through Togo.
After five years, Nyame, on June 21, 2024, was arrested at the Kotoka International Airport upon his return.
