It’s been six months since Ghana decided who should lead the country and the various constituencies. The 2024 General Elections were organised successfully, although there were minor negativities.

The success of the General Elections was all down to how young Ghanaians dedicated their ample time and energy to ensure that there would be free and fair elections across the country.

Ghanaian youth played many roles in the 2024 General Elections. Many were presiding officers, verification assistants, and polling agents, among others.

The employers of the Electoral Commission of Ghana have not received the agreed salaries since December 2024 and are extremely disappointed for not being paid after six good months.

The Deputy Chair of the Commission in charge of Corporate Affairs, Dr Bossman Asare, however, has put the blame on the Finance Ministry of Ghana for the delay of the payments.

“The Commission wishes to bring to the attention of all temporary officials engaged in the 2024 General Election that payments have not been made because the Commission is yet to receive the funds from the Ministry of Finance.”

“Following assurances from the Ministry that the funds would be released shortly to the Commission,” the statement added

“We apologise again for the delay and take this opportunity to express our gratitude to you for your commitment and professionalism, which contributed to the successful outcome of the 2024 General Election’, Bossman Asare concluded.

The EC has assured to collaborate with the Finance Ministry to make payments by the end of June, per multiple sources.
