The Ghana Football Association has confirmed that a total of eight players have withdrawn from the Ghana national team ahead of their upcoming Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Angola and Niger, due to various injuries and personal reasons.

Here is a breakdown of the reasons for their absence:

1. Inaki Williams: The striker picked up a hamstring injury on November 7 and has been unable to train since.

2. Tariq Lamptey: The right-back is dealing with aggravated calf discomfort, which flared up last week. He is currently undergoing rehabilitation with his club.

3. Jonas Adjetey: Adjetey, who had been recovering from an injury, suffered a setback during his club’s last league game on Saturday, November 9, 2024.

4. Jerome Opoku: The center-back is experiencing chronic back pain, which worsened during a Super Lig game against Besiktas on November 10. He is now receiving treatment with his club.

5. Antoine Semenyo: The forward is nursing an injury to his patella tendon due to an overload of games. The club’s medical team recommended referring him to a tendon specialist during the international break to prevent further complications.

6. Alexander Djiku: Djiku has aggravated a pre-existing hamstring injury, which led to his substitution in his last match on Sunday, November 10, 2024.

7. Ibrahim Osman: The winger sustained a hamstring injury in his most recent club match, leading to his substitution at halftime.

8. Joseph Painstil: Painstil’s withdrawal is due to personal reasons.

These absences will force head coach Otto Addo to make adjustments ahead of the crucial qualifiers, as Ghana seeks to secure a spot in the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations.
