Back then, they were dubbed Romeo and Juliet. Others called them Pramus and Thisbe because of how they romantically acted in movies.
Nothing seemed to tear them apart unless tragedy struck in some of their movies. In others, they will fight their way to be together even against the will of every soul.
Their stories in the early 2000s were so real and many thought they were meant to be with each other.
Emeka Ike got married to an unknown woman, and Genevieve Nnaji was rumoured to be in a romantic affair with D Banj, the popular Nigerian musician.
Emeka Ike has finally confessed to the mistakes he made with Genevieve Nnaji years ago when they were much younger. According to him, he made a huge and unpardonable mistake by not marrying Genevieve Nnaji.
“While on a movie set titled True Love, our on-screen connection turned real. With every scene, the spark between us grew stronger. We both came from Imo state in Nigeria and were both at the peak of our careers.
“But people warned me against marrying an actress, saying the spotlight would always be on her and as a celebrity, she would not be a good wife. I let their words influence me and made a choice that nearly wrecked me financially. I married the wrong woman, and we later got divorced.
“If I had the chance to rewrite my past, I’d choose Genevieve Nnaji, she is my true love.
“When you fall in love with someone who you know very well, don’t hesitate to marry them,” Emeka disclosed.
The chemistry between the duo on set was unbelievable as they acted like they were in love truly.
It was all over the newspapers that the two were madly in love after developing it through their meetings on set.
Emeka Ike and Genevieve Nnaji became the biggest stars in all the top romantic movies when Nollywood was making its way through the African continent.
Known for renowned movies like Not Man Enough, For Better For Worse, Passions and Beloved, Emeka and Genevieve will forever remain the best duo in acting romantic movies.
