Murat Yakin’s Switzerland continued their impressive form in Germany with a high spec performance against the poor Italy.

Switzerland from the onset showed an unbelievably determination as they pressed and attacked Italy from all angles. Considered less favourites, Switzerland made sure Italy had no chance to attack them.

The midfield partnership between Remo Freuler and Granit Xhaka continues to dominate opponents. Former Arsenal bona fide midfielder Granit Xhaka was in an imperial form as he outclassed Barella and Fagioli in Italy’s midfield.

Remo Freuler finished of a great move by Switzerland in the 36th minute after latching on to a precise pass from Vargas. He unleashed a great shot with the impressive Donnarumma failing to deal with it.

Switzerland had been knocking on the doors of Iataly so it was not surprised they took the lead.

Italy was horrible throughout the whole 45 minites as they managed just one goal attempt compared to Switzerland’s ten.

Fans were not back from the break when Vargas doubled Swiss’ lead. He beautifully controlled a pass from Aebescher and fired a great shot from the edge of the box.

Spalletti’s side was supposed to chase the game but couldn’t finish of any of their chances. They twice hit the woodwork with Fabian Schar and Gianluca Scamacca getting closer to reduce the deficit for Italy.

Switzerland kept their compuser and protected their lead. They have made it to the quarter-finals and will play against either Germany or Denmark.
