Unquestionably, Chelsea has been the best English side when it comes to European competitions since Roman Abramovich became the owner in 2003. The club has won two UCL titles, 2 UEFA Europa League crowns and added the Conference League on Wednesday night to an already rich European trophies cabinet.
The Tarcyzinski Arena in Wroclaw, Poland, witnessed an incredible second-half performance from English side Chelsea after they took a commanding 1-0 lead. Moroccan international Abde Ezzalzouli gave Real Betis an early lead in the first half. His powerful low drive shot ended at the bottom of the right corner in the 9th minute.
Chelsea needed to step up in the second half to find the equaliser. Skipper Reece James was brought on in the 46th minute to replace Malo Gusto. Everything changed as the Blues took control of the game.
Enzo Fernandez found the equaliser in the 65th minute when Cole Palmer’s cross was headed from close range into the net to make it 1-1.
Nico Jackson in the 70th minute scored from Palmer’s cross to give Chelsea a 2-1 lead. Substitute Jadon Sancho’s curling effort found the back of the net in the 83rd minute to put the game beyond Real Betis.
Moises Caicedo’s goal in the 91st minute rounded off Chelsea’s perfect night, making it 4-1. Enzo Maresca’s side’s performance shows how the club has improved in the last five weeks after fighting hard to automatically qualify for the UCL.
Chelsea has become the only European club to have won the Champions League, the Europa League, the Conference League, the European Super Cup, and the European Cup Winners’ Cup.
