Favour Ofili was not registered by the Nigerian Athletic Body for the 100m in the Paris Olympic Games. The country was shocked just like athletic fans across the globe because a lot was expected from the 21-year-old.

“Nobody in the AFN is saying that Ofili should change her nationality to another country, but if she is desperate to go, no one can stop her.

“What I want Nigerians to know is that Ofili’s unruly behaviour is fast spreading to some other athletes, and if care is not taken, the AFN might lose control of the athletes, and that will be catastrophic for Nigeria.

“As I said, we have other capable athletes, who can fill the space if Ofili decides to go. It is better we have a team with disciplined athletes, than to parade a squad laced with undisciplined athletes.”

An official from the nation’s athletics organization reportedly told Guardian Nigeria.

Many people have concluded that the athlete was purposefully not registered for the 100-meter event at the Olympics in Paris as per the comment.

It has been rumoured that the Port Harcourt-born athlete is considering switching nationality due to the rift between Ofili and the Athletic Federation of Nigeria.
