After 16 indescribable days full of action in the city of Paris, the Olympic Games finally came to an end on Sunday, 11th August.

No amount of words can describe what exactly happened in all the events as sporting fans across the globe enjoyed every bit of the show.

Teams went to France to compete for medals as it is what defines the success of Olympians.

Paris 24 was always going to be a straight fight between the USA and China regarding the top spot for medals.

USA topped the table with 40 golds, the same as China. The International Olympic Committee says that whoever wins the highest number of golds top the table. When the numbers are the same among two or more countries, then the next is who won more silvers before bronzes.

The USA won 44 silvers as China lifted 27. USA won 42 bronzes while China won 24. In total, USA won 126 medals with China winning 91.

Japan finished 3rd lifting 20 golds, 12 Silvers and 13 bronzes. In total, Japan won 45 medals.

4th on the list is Australia who won 18 golds and 53 medals in total.

Host France won 16 golds and 63 in total to finish 5th.

Netherlands (15 golds), Great Britain (14 golds) and South Korea (13 golds) finished 6th, 7th and 8th respectively.

Italy and Germany completed the top ten with both winning 12 golds each. The two also won 13 silvers apiece but Italy finished 9th because they won 15 bronzes. Germany won 8 bronzes to finish 10th.
