The Controller Accountant General Department (CAGD) has been ordered by the Finance Ministry to commence the payment of teachers’ 16 months’ salary arrears.

Teachers who were posted in August 2024 received their first salaries in November 2025, with roughly the first 15 to 16 months not paid.

After a series of demonstrations for almost a year by the affected teachers, the Finance Ministry has ordered the payment by the Controller of the Accountant General Department.

The payment will commence in May, when the eligible teachers will receive four months of the 16. Then, in June, another four will be paid, with July and August being the period when the other eight will be paid
