Former Asante Kotoko number one goalkeeper, Frederick Asare, is set to complete his move to the newly promoted Betway Premiership side, Durban City, in South Africa. The goalkeeper parted ways with the Ghanaian giants after the end of the 2024-25 season.
The 26-year-old Black Stars goalkeeper lost his position to Congolese goalkeeper Camara, but remains a very good goalkeeper. With 15 league appearances, the goalkeeper made 5 clean sheets and recorded 62.5% saves of the shots he faced in Ghana’s top Division.
The former Accra Lions goalkeeper joined Asante Kotoko in 2021.
A move to the South African topflight will certainly improve him with the newly promoted side, Durban City et to rely on his experience in their battle against relegation.
Durban City finished 5 points ahead of second-placed Orbit College in the Motsepe Foundation Championship, where they won 17 matches and amassed 58 points.
Asare will sign a two-year deal with Duban City, where he is expected to fight for the number one slot.
