Accra Hearts of Oak commenced week 14 of the Ghana Premier League on Friday night with a superb 3-1 win over Samuel Boadu’s Berekum Chelsea at the University of Ghana Sports Stadium.

Phobia in Kumasi lost 1-0 against Asante Kotoko in the Super Clash in week 13, so they could not afford to lose again in week 14.

Accra Hearts of Oak got off to a brilliant start after Ramzy Yussif opened the scoring with just 16 minutes played.

After proving to be the best of the two sides, Abouakar Ouattara’s charges were able to protect their lead before the first half ended.

Hamza Issah with just five minutes into the second half made it 2-0 for the home side. The goal looked like Phobia would go home with all three points but Emmanuel Sarpong in the 61st minute pulled one back for Chelsea. With the deficit reduced, Hearts of Oak was under a bit of pressure to lose their two-goal lead as Samuel Boadu tactically tweaked things.

Kwabena Boateng with ten minutes to end the match restored Hearts of Oak’s lead to calm the tension down. The 3-1 success means that Accra Hearts of Oak has moved to 5th position and is now just two points behind the league leaders Heart of Lions who play on Saturday against Basake Holy Stars.
