Hearts of Oak against Nsoatreman, on paper, looked like the easiest fixture for the Phobians so far in the season, but it was also a risky tie.

Legon Cities was down but stopped Kotoko’s run, Dreams was in a huge mess but defeated Medeama and also stole a point against Bibiani Gold Stars, so playing against the struggling teams is a bit difficult.

At the University of Ghana Sports Stadium on Saturday night, Hearts of Oak fans were extremely hopeful of a fourth consecutive victory of the season against a team that has not gotten a point in any of their away games since beating Elect Sport in the Confederation Cup away from home.

Yaw Preko’s struggling side took a shock lead through Steven Diyou in the 13th minute. Phobia did not waste time and equalised through Salim Adams’ beautiful free kick three minutes later.

Throughout the rest of the game, nothing showed that Nsoatreman was a troubled team because there was not much difference between the two sides.

In the second half, Nsoatreman enjoyed themselves but failed to snatch the all-important goal.

Hearts of Oak’s intensity dropped and did not show much seriousness in the second half. The expectations were lowered by the fans because no one could believe it was possible to win the three points.

The Phobians will rue the opportunity missed to close the gap on top of the log. They sit third with three points behind leaders Nations FC.

Nsoatreman remains 10th after winning 13 points from 12 games.

Phobia will prepare to face Asante Kotoko in the Super clash in round 13 of the Ghana Premier League at the Len Clay Sports Stadium in Obuasi next Sunday.
