Bibiani Gold Stars returned to winning ways at Dun’s Park with an important 2-1 win over Heart of Lions on Tuesday. It was a second and third-place clash, which had the potential to make significant changes on top of the table.
Samuel Atta Kumi’s 15th-minute strike and Gideon Anaba’s penalty on the stroke of halftime helped the Gold Stars take a commanding 2-0 lead into the break.
Nana Oppong’s strike in the second half was only a consolation as the game ended 2-1 at Dun’s Park in Bibiani.
The win has helped Bibiani Gold Stars move to the top of the table with two points ahead of Asante Kotoko, who sits in second and welcomes Berekum Chelsea to the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi on Wednesday afternoon.
In the other game on Tuesday, Medeama beat Holy Stars 2-1 to move to 4th place on the log trailing the leaders Bibiani Gold Stars by 6 points.
At the TNA Park, Issah Yakubu put the away side in front in the 28th minute.
Medeama equalised through Black Stars defender Kamaradini Mamudu in the 45th minute.
Derek Fordjour, with just a minute to end the 90, scored the winner to help Ibrahim Tanko’s side move to fourth position on the league table.
