Week 22 matches round-up!!

Asante Kotoko was beaten to a pulp by the relegation-threatened Accra Lions at the Accra Sports Stadium on Wednesday afternoon.

The defeat is extremely surprising, looking at the recent performances of both teams.

The Porcupine Warriors’ defeat means they have moved to third position on the league table. Reiner Kraft’s young boys made life uncomfortable in the capital for Asante Kotoko.

Jacob Awoute’s opener in the 17th minute started the massacre, with Yao Sokpoli doubling the home team’s lead before halftime.

Young Nigerian forward David Akintunde, in the second half, rounded off the impressive afternoon for Accra Lions. The 3-0 defeat is Asante Kotoko’s heaviest defeat in the entire season, and the ripple effects could be catastrophic.

Bibiani Gold Stars travelled to Bechem and recorded a very crucial 2-0 away win. It was the first time Bechem United had conceded a goal in the season at home.

Ronald Frimpong in the 30th minute, put Bibiani Gold Stars ahead. Kweku Danso’s side was expected to bounce back in the second half, but Alex Aso’s goal condemned them to a 2-0 defeat.

Bibiani Gold Stars are now sitting on top of the table after winning 50 points from 27 games.

Sam Adams and Latif Bamba’s goals in the game helped Aduana secure a 2-0 win over Hearts of Oak. It looks likely that Ouattara’s side is out of the title race completely.

Faisal Charwetey’s only goal propelled Nations FC to a 1-0 win over Dreams. The Abrankese club is now second on the league log, trailing leaders Gold Stars by just a point.

Ebenezer Abann’s second-half goal helped Heart of Lions beat Medeama SC by 1-0 to return to winning ways.

Two goals from Godwin Sefah and Benedict Afful in the second half to assisted the defending champions Samartex SC to beat Karela 2-0.

Young Apostles, in a space of five minutes, came from behind and defeated Berekum Chelsea 2-1.

Chelsea, through Badori in the 5th minute, took an early lead. Hussein Issah, in the 89th minute, restored parity. Emmanuel Kyei, in the 94th minute, converted a penalty to break Samuel Boadu and his side’s heart.
