At the mixed zone after the women’s 200m final on Tuesday night, it was all tears and mourning from Favour Ofili as her family members were see consoling her.

Favour Ofili, 21, finished 5th in the 200m finals running 22.24.

The 2022 Comonwealth Games Silver medalist was denied the opportunity to take part in the 100m by the Nigerian Olympic Committee six days ago.

Favour Ofili said on social media: “It is with great regret that I have just learned that I will not be competing in the 100m at the Olympic Games.

“I worked four years to deserve this opportunity. For what?” Favour added.

The news was considered shameful and disrespectful after no better excuse was given to her.

Favour felt broken, bruised and destroyed but decided to let it go and concentrate on the 200m.

In the semifinals of the 200m, Favour Ofili finished 2nd in Heat 1 right behind Alfred. Favour run 22.05 which was her Seasonal Best but could not better her semifinals time in the finals.

“I am tired. I have not slept. I have not known peace,” said Favour when she was crying at the Mixed Zone.

The Port Harcourt born will be extremely disappointed for a while as she will never forget what transpired in Paris 2024.
