Nollywood actress Mercy Johnson Okojie, 40, has confirmed her decision to quit some roles after she got married to Prince Odianosen Okojie in 2011.
The actress, who has been in Nollywood since 2004, in an interview explained why she decided not to entertain any role involving kissing and romance.
“I used to be open to all kinds of roles, including kissing scenes. Back then, it was just part of the job. But after I got married, everything changed,” Mercy Johnson said.
“Marriage comes with responsibilities, and for me, respect is very important. My husband is very supportive, but I wouldn’t feel comfortable if the roles were reversed. That’s why I decided to stop kissing in movies.
“Also, my children are growing up, and they will watch my movies. I want to set a good example for them. There are many ways to show love in films without being too intimate.
“I love my job, but I also love and respect my family. That’s why I made this decision, and I have no regrets,” she concluded.
Mercy Johnson has played major roles in movies like House Party, Kill the Bride, Married to the Enemy, Dumebi, Something Like Gold, and 16th Anniversary, among so many popular Nollywood movies.
