Former Manchester United captain Roy Keane was disappointed with Liverpool at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday in the late kick-off off where they were maimed by Manchester City.
The Reds looked like they had weathered the storm after beating Aston Villa and Real Madrid in their last two games.
Things have not been rosy for Arne Slot’s side since the start of the season, and the abysmal performance they put up in Manchester.
Goals from the red-hot Erling Haaland, Nico and the imperious Doku, who won the man of the match award, ensured that the Citizens smashed the defending champions 3-0.
After the game, Roy Keane confirmed that Liverpool is in crisis and does not consider them title contenders.
“At this moment in time, you can’t be considering Liverpool for the league title,” said Keane. Liverpool have lost five in their last six Premier League games. Liverpool is currently 8th on the log, having won 18 points from 11 games.
“I think it is crisis time for Liverpool. We know they can be beaten at Man City. We know it’s a tough place to come, and Man City, the signs are they are obviously getting back to the very best. But to lose seven in 10 and five league losses already this season, it has to be a crisis for a club like Liverpool,” Keane added. Manchester City seems to have turned things around, and many expect them to be the main challengers for Arsenal, with Keane waxing lyrical about them.
Keane continued that Liverpool “looked like a really weak team today”. “I go back to that word – lack of intensity, lack of energy, chopping and changing and bringing your subs on, it just looked really flat.”
Liverpool will have to quickly turn things around after the international break, where they will face Nottingham Forest, West Ham United, Sunderland, Leeds and Brighton & Hove Albion.
