Jeremy Agyekum Frimpong was born to Ghanaian parents in Amsterdam but was nurtured in England because his father and mother relocated to Britain when he was seven.

The 5ft 8in versatile footballer was eligible to play for Netherlands, Ghana and England but he chose to represent the Oranje.

The diminutive speedster has been one of the best right backs, right wing backs, right forwards in the game since Xabi Alonso took over the managerial role of Bayer 04 Leverkusen a couple of seasons ago.

The Dutch born’s favorite team mate is Nigeria’s Victor Boniface hence making him add another culture to the already many cultures he knows. Frimpong knows Ghanaian, Dutch, English, Scottish, German and Nigerian cultures now.

After Bayer Leverkusen’s impressive 1-0 win over Inter Milan on Tuesday night in the UCL, Nigerian reporter Oma Akatugba interviwed the 24-year-old and he talked about his Ghanaian roots.

“My parents are Ghanaians, so every time I speak to my parents it is in Twi. They are the ones who taught me the language so when I am home I speak Twi with them. I have never been to Ghana but I will go. I learned Twi from my parents,” Agyekum Frimpong said.

Twi is the most popular language in Ghana as almost the entire population can speak it.

Jeremy Frimpong revealed his love for Ghanaian and Nigerian music. When quizzed on which of the countries make good music, Frimpong said, ” I listen to music made by the two countries and i think Nigerian music is ahead of Ghana”. He mentioned Asake, Davido and Wizkid as his favorite artists.

Jeremy Frimpong has been courted by the top European clubs including former club Manchester City.
