The Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) has issued an evacuation notice to car dealers, mechanic shops, taxi operators, squatters, temporary structure owners, and other traders operating along the Santasi–Ahodwo stretch of road to make way for a major construction project.

According to a press release dated September 23, 2025, all affected persons must vacate the area by October 30, 2025, to allow work to begin on a new dual carriage road linking Santasi to the Ahodwo Roundabout and the Asokwa Interchange.

The KMA warned that anyone remaining on the designated stretch after the deadline will face forced eviction starting November 1, 2025.

“The Assembly urges all affected persons and the general public to comply fully with this directive to facilitate the timely completion of the project,” the statement said.

The project, funded through a grant from the Japanese International Cooperation Agency (JICA), is expected to improve road infrastructure and enhance connectivity within Kumasi. The KMA assured residents that it is working to ensure smooth execution for the benefit of commuters and the wider community.
