Issues of attendance could be the biggest issue in Ghanaian football currently.
The Ghana Premier League is now begging for supporters to troop to the various stadiums to watch games but all to no avail.
90% of GPL games do not get the fans to support them because of so many issues that football authorities and the government have failed to address.
Former Asante Kotoko striker Kwadwo Poku Mahala has suggested that female students across the various tertiary institutions could help fill football centres because they are very beautiful and attractive and can attract many men to attend games.
“If you bring in female students from TECH and other tertiary schools for free, you will see the stadiums fill up,” Poku said. “It’s a known fact that where women are, men will also come. So, if we get the ladies in the stands, the men will follow suit. It will create an exciting environment at the stadium,” Kwadwo Poku Mahala told Kessben TV.
The nation needs many strategies to help relieve the declining fan culture in the country, and using beautiful female students could be an option.
The days of fans filling all league centres every Sunday afternoon are over. Ghana used to be one of the countries where fans watched its league, but now, it could be the number one country where fans do not have any interest in the local league.
