The Ashanti Central District Police Command has successfully secured the conviction of 22-year-old Christian Owusu in a robbery case that occurred in Kumasi.

Police reports indicate that on July 21, 2026, at about 12:21 p.m., a woman heading towards Konkromase Township was accosted and robbed of her handbag containing cash and personal belongings. She lodged a complaint later that day at around 5:00 p.m.

Following investigations, Owusu was apprehended on August 4, 2026, and arraigned before the Atasemanso Circuit Court on August 7, presided over by His Lordship Mr Kwaku Baah Frimpong.

The accused admitted guilt and pleaded for leniency. The court, however, handed him a minimum sentence of ten years’ imprisonment with hard labour.

Owusu has since been transferred to the Kumasi Central Prisons to commence his sentence.
