The Hohoe Community Stadium has been in use for a while even though it was still under construction.

On Saturday morning in Hohoe, Ghana Football Association president Kurt Okraku led a list of powerful personalities to commission the venue officially.

The FA President, alongside football legend Abedi Pele, Togbe Adzimah, Hon. Peter Amewu, and many chiefs were in attendance at the official commissioning of the facility.

“I am happy to be here today. What we are witnessing is fundamental to the development of football in our country,” he said.

“I am happy to be here today; this is a day reserved for all of us; what we are witnessing here today is fundamental to the development of football in our country,” Kurt said. The much-criticised FA boss told the gathered guests that commissioning the venue is part of the plan to fix the fundamentals of the game.

“I want to use this opportunity on behalf of the FA to thank you for this amazing investment into Ghana Football, this is one of the key things I have been speaking about when I spoke about fixing the fundamentals, This is one great commission for us, This is the investment into the fixing of the fundamentals,” Mr Okraku said.

Kurt Okraku stressed the need to have good pitches and infrastructures to help develop the game. “If you want good football, it is essential to have a good football pitch and infrastructure.”

“It’s not just for the current generation, but also future generations. This is an investment in our collective football,” he added. The Hohoe Community Stadium looks extremely neat and standard, and Kurt disclosed how it will help even the next generation in the development of football.

The “Game Changer”, as he is affectionately known, further took the opportunity to express his profound gratitude to Hon. John Peter Amewu, the Member of Parliament for the Hohoe Constituency, for his decision and role to invest in the Hohoe Stadium project.

“On behalf of the FA, I want to thank you for this remarkable investment in Ghana football and for providing the foundation for young boys and girls to realize their dreams,” Kurt Okraku added.

The Hohoe Community Stadium is currently occupied by Ghana Premier League side Kpando Heart of Lions.

Ex-Black Stars Players John Mensah, Fatawu Dauda, John Painstil, and Agyemang Badu, among others, played against a selected side from Hphoe in a ceremonial game which ended 4-1 in favour of the ex-Black Stars.
