Osei Kofi, 84, is a football brain in Ghana. He spent a season with Accra Hearts of Oak in 1961-1962. He played for Asante Kotoko for 13 good years making more than 300 appearances and scoring more than 150 goals.

At the international level, Osei Kofi won AFCON with Ghana in 1965 and was a popular figure in the olden days. Considered one of the best Ghanaian footballers of all time, the legendary Osei Kofi knows all about who a generational talent is.

Speaking to JoySports, the 84-year-old former Black Stars forward revealed that Westham’s talented Ghanaian attacker, Mohammed Kudus, is a talent that comes once in a generation.

“Some players are naturally gifted,” Like [Lionel] Messi, when a team struggles, he steps up to turn things around. I had a similar role under CK Gyamfi. Whenever the team needed a lift, I had to lead by example. There were about three of us who did that – myself, Polo, and Abedi,” Osei Kofi said.

“Whenever Polo had possession, the rest of us moved strategically, and he dictated the flow of the game. Such players are rare. After my era, Polo emerged, and now we have someone like [Mohammed] Kudus. Players of this calibre are generational talents,” added Osei Kofi.

Osei Kofi praised Kudus and compared him to some of Ghana’s greatest talents ever.

The Westham United star has been linked with a move to Saudi Arabia with rumours saying Al-Ittihad is ready to pay the Hammers $150 million and €300k weekly wage.
